Help one click phone calls

My old samsung google nexus allowed me to put shortcuts on my hone screen that would initiate a phone call with one touch.

I now have a S3, and though I can make a contact short cut, I have to select the number and press call.

Is there a way to make a shortcut directly to dialing a particular number?

Set one of the numbers as default. It can be done in the contact menu and long pressing the number you want to use as default.

Thanks, that helps, gets rid of 1 of three clicks, but still got two. It's about the driving thing. There are still two other interactions before this, tho' those are easy to do while driving, hitting the power button, then waking up the phone, then the contact shortcut, then this solution means just the dial button, which is a lot easier to hit than selecting one of the numbers, which does help, but I want to keep my eyes off my phone and on the road as much as possible.

I guess I should learn to use the gesture and voice controls of this phone, which i hear are powerful. I didn't have much luck with the car noise with the other, but may do better with this phhone.

On my phone, I just long press the home screen, choose Shortcuts, Direct Dial, & choose the Contact. After that, the contact's icon is on my screen and pressing it direct dials the number.

Did you try the direct dial widget?

I see one there but I do not use so I not sure what it does. There is a contact widget so I assume that this will direct dial.

EDIT: OK just tested it and it does direct dial. Most likely in conjunction with setting a default number like chanchan05 mentioned.
