"One is fine by me"

This truly is a puzzle.

My googling technique is, how do they say...
Whack.
Broken.
Cursed?

I have the hardest time finding things that are remotely complex by googling them. I always seem to miss by one word, or some boolean mis-step.

Can't find a darn thing about this worth a smidge.

It has to be intentional, right?

Put in quotes to search by exact phrase, and I get this thread first. Add -either like this to remove the term -

"one is fine by me" -either

And I get this thread second. And nothing more on the subject for the first or second page.

I just tried it with location services on with ICS. No soap.

I had location services on in both incarnations of JB when it worked.

Definitely doesn't do anything with my Hong Kong Jellybean Samsung. Could be because my carrier is not Verizon or AT&T or Sprint, and China Unicom only understands putonghua?

I don't have any defaults set. The link lets me choose by Maps, Earth or my weather radar.

I had the same observable mentioned - the link is created on output. It seems reasonable that location services are involved.

It works in London apparently, so not just USA. Doesn't work in Hell, Australia or China so far.

Edit
Wow, I must be slow. Ninja'd again.

I'm sure this kind of location thing depends on which service is running it and where they're from. This is Google isn't it? When I was in the UK a couple of months ago, I tried to use a Baidu location app....no chance....just didn't work at all. I know Google doesn't really have much location information for China or Hell, although Australia should be OK....unless the peeps at Mountain View USA have ignored it.

I'm getting some hilarious results (you'd have to know the businesses) from random words inserted instead of "good" or "fine".
You can use just about any word. Even non-words make a link, though they don't necessarily bring you anywhere.

I remember using Google+ when it came out. I could swipe left on my phone to see and make messages near me physically but not in my circles.

I wonder if it's connecting to that.

I was wondering the same thing kind of, but G+ is disabled on my phone and I never signed in to it. I would think that would prevent it from working for me (if that is what keeps some of our friends here from the amazing benefits of this feature).

It isn't G+, I have removed that from my phone, nor is it Google Now search. Location can be turned off, and it still works. Even if I have no signal, the hyperlink is created the moment I hit send.
