One Sim, two phones?

RodBsr

Newbie
I have a tmobile phone and account (prepaid)

If I buy another tmobile phone (prepaid) can I take the new phone out of the package, pop in my current phone's sim and go on my way? Nothing else needs to be done?

I know it's a newbie type question so sorry for that.

I don't want to activate a new phone and account but rather just change phones and keep my current account.

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can do that. That's what Sims are for! :D

Makes life so much easier.

But some of your data or picts might not be on the other phone. Yah, technically you can own as many phone as you want. Thats the beauty of GSM.

Since my wife/woman own many types of handbag, I think I am going to start owning a few phones.

If I may add to the question...

Could I also buy a Tmobile phone... basic... and right out of the box... put a Go Smart (tmo's own separate prepaid company) sim in it instead of the sim that comes with the phone?

a basic "talking" phone on a monthly $30 unlimited talk and text would be of interest to me for what I do.

Any gsm phone, (using a sim card) will work with any sim, obviously you do have to take into account some phones now use micro and or nano sim cards.

However you can cut regular sim to fit micro and or nano and they make adapters to use micro sim in regular sim slots.
So to answer your question yes you could buy the t-mobile phone and (assuming its unlocked or at least like you say running on t mobiles own network) put the go smart sim in and go with it.
Also if your not aware of it you would not have to buy a t mobile phone to use the go smart sim, find a unlocked phone from any gsm network, straight talk, att, or google nexus line.

I'll go further and say you could continue swapping the SIMs between phones. Say if you will be working outside or exercising and need you phone with you, you could put the SIM back in your old phone to help prevent scratches or other accidents with your new phone, then switch back when you are done.
