Android Question

I have a Lenovo S6000 android 4.2 purchased for my 95 year old dad (yea dad for even trying to use this thing). He often accidentally touches the screen gets side effects he didn't intend - the worst one being the "One Touch Clear" (or maybe it reads "On Click Clear") button that appears when he touches the settings button in the lower right hand corner of the desktop. Touching this button clears all the icons from the desktop and leaves him helpless until I can come around again and restore them.
It's way, way too easy for him to do this. Is there anything I can do to eliminate that button, and if he wants to clear his apps I'll do it manually.
THanks!
