One UI 8.0 - Notification shade stuck and Gallery maps not loading

Hey guys, I just updated my Galaxy XCover6 Pro to One UI 8.0 (Android 16) and I’m having two super annoying issues. Is anyone else seeing this?

  1. Notification Menu: The swipe down from the top is basically broken. It doesn't respond to the first 2 or 3 swipes. I have to lock/unlock the screen and press really hard at the top to get it to work. It used to be super smooth before the update.
  2. Gallery App: When I try to see a photo's location on the map, it just shows a blank screen. It’s like the app has no internet access even though everything else is working fine.
I’ve already tried clearing the cache and checking permissions but nothing works. Is this a known bug in this build (G736U1UESAGYL1)? Any tips on how to fix this?

have you tried rebooting the phone? last resort would be to do a factory reset. sometimes the issue could be from a bad download or a bad install. a factory reset should fix those issues. a reset does not wipe the update, but could fix anything that have gotten broken during the install. \

google's ai came up with some tips you can try:

It appears you are experiencing issues with a software update on your Samsung Galaxy XCover6 Pro(SM-G736U1) with firmware version ESEGIEL 1. Users have reported various problems after updates, including battery drain, performance issues, or a phone stuck in a restart loop. [1, 2, 3, 4] Here are recommended steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue: Troubleshooting Steps Wipe the cache partition: This can resolve software conflicts where old cache data interferes with the new OS version.
  1. Power off the device.
  2. Connect the phone to a PC or another device using a USB-C cable.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Side (Power) button simultaneously until the Android recovery menu appears.
  4. Use the Volume Down key to navigate to the "Wipe cache partition" option.
  5. Press the Power key to select and confirm the action.
  6. Once complete, select "Reboot system now" to restart your device normally.
  7. Check for sufficient storage: Insufficient storage can cause an update to fail or corrupt the installation. Ensure you have enough free space on your device.
  8. Try updating in Safe Mode: If the current update process is stuck, booting in Safe Mode might help isolate issues caused by third-party apps and allow the update to complete properly.
  9. Back up data and perform a factory reset: If all else fails, a factory reset can clear deep-seated software bugs. Be sure to back up all your data first using Samsung Cloud or a computer, as this will erase everything on the device.
  10. Contact Samsung Support: If your device is in a persistent bootloop or unresponsive, you may need professional assistance. A service center can attempt a USB software flash (reinstalling the firmware). You can visit the official
    Samsung Support
website for more specific help or to find a local service center.

Tanks for the suggestion, i mean, i REALLY appreciate your help, but a factory reset is definitely not an option for me. I use my phone for way more than just WhatsApp and a couple of photos. I have a massive amount of data, apps integrations, and custom configurations that would take days to restore, it is a real workhorse for me, i like it but at the same time I hate that. for this reason.

I’ve dealt with serious issues before without resorting to that 'fashionable' fix. This is clearly a software optimization bug from the One UI 8.0 update, and Samsung needs to address it with a patch.

Have you tried to dump your photos to your comp and have the data backed up there? It is such a pain to do factory reset, I just did mine and swallows up your entire day, Samsung switch over to your other device also works like a charm too.

Sorry friend.. if photos where my only concern to back up lol I would do a factory reset more often than restarting the phone.
