Help Onetouch Idol Mini Stuck on Reboot Loop!

Hello Android forums, this is my first thread i was wondering how to fix my phone.

I was playing around with exposed to get a fancy looking status bar and then rebooted it to apply changes. but after rebooting on the lock screen the phone restarted, and still continues to repeat the loop. after reading up online I attempted to enter recovery mode using the up-volume button and power button simultaneously and that did not work. any ideas on how to fix this?

Did you shut it down first? The button combination won't interrupt the bootloop, so you need to do that by either removing the battery (if possible) or pressing and holding power.

Sorry if that's obvious, but the wording of the post was ambiguous on this point, so I thought it best to check.

Thank you for the welcome Hadron, no the phone does not have a removable battery and i have tried several times to turn it off during the loop.
 
Ah, not good.

If you can't shut it down I don't have any ideas. How long have you pressed and held the power button for? And although this is a really long shot, was anything covering the proximity sensor at the time? (There are a few phones which use the proximity sensor to make sure that the power button isn't being pressed while in a pocket - this is not widespread, but it's the one other thing I can think of).

If not, unless someone else has an idea the only way left I can think of will be to let it run down (and be alert when you plug it in, in case it starts to boot immediately - it shouldn't, but best to be safe).

I'd always advise taking a backup from recovery before doing anything like this, but if you can't get into recovery that wouldn't help this time. :(
 
I just tried again making sure to avoid the sensor and I held the button for a good minute. but still not working. I will just wait for it to run out of battery. Thank you for the help.
 
OK so the phone ran out of battery and I plugged it in but its still stuck in the reboot loop, is my phone ruined?

Scratch that, I held the buttons before plugging it in and that worked. I am resetting as we speak.
