Online Nandroid Backup *Root*

I used this tool in the past, but I did had a lot of problems while trying to restore those backups (not always) via CWM do to corrupted files. So this tool is not an option for me.

My opinion:
Backups aren't meant do be done while using your device. But in a special mode (CWM).

Interesting never had a problem with it, maybe it was were you were saving the data..............

Plus you have to make sure you install the correct patch for the phone....

I also prefer to do my backups in recovery mode. I copy them to my network drive for added safekeeping.

I could foresee issues in backing up something that is actively being used when you try to back it up.

Does the Online backup handle the /preload partition that the TW jelly Bean has? The phones partition format changed for those, and until recently (thanks to Garwyn and Agat) we didn't have a full backup of TW JB.

Same here, I move my backups to one of my cloud storage drives and my system and as far a working with agat, nope lol its doesn't tried it, but like I said it does work for cwm and twrp, never had a problem with it....

Not quite what I meant. I have Garwynn's 0.4.1 kernel that has CWM modified by him to include the preload partition. Previous versions of CWM don't handle that. The format on our phone's partitions changed when Samsung brought out its TW Jelly Bean. Prior to that if you managed to mess up the ROM's preload partition you had to flash the ROM again and then recover the other partitions. So I was asking if the online backup app handled that partition.

I have a 1.5TB drive on my own network router that I use. It is very handy I can share music and video throughout my home with it.

Sorry I didn't understand your question and my answer would be, I don't no lol, I only tried it on the stock JB rom when I first got my phone and it started to backup but then choked half way thru the back up and since then I haven't tried it on any other TW rom, but as far as the AOSP roms with CWM or TWRP it works perfectly, I have 5 different roms that I can switch to using the nandroid manager and flash from with out going into recovery, I just pick the rom I want and it reboots and goes directly to that rom and does the restore.

Yep no what you mean about sharing videos thru out, I have a Samsung wireless br player with smart and I can tap in to my system or my laptop or my tablet lol I love it......;)

Hey guys, I am fairly new to rooting and just recently got busy box and nandroid backup so i could back up my SgS3 ....Im confised about a couple thing...what does it mean by "Online backup"??? Cause when i run the backup it only says it is saved to my sd card...not "online" anywhere. Too make that even more confusing, when i remove my sd card and put it into my laptop, NOTHING about nandroid or the custom made backups that i made show up anywhere on the card?? My phone tells me the backup was successful ...i have ran 2 and named different dates....where are they though?? any help would be great...I also use Titanium and have a backup that way and it does show up on the sd card??? Im confised and just want to make sure Nandroid is actually backing up my phone incase i do need it at some point...any tips, info or help would be great....thx...

Are you on a SGS3 or SGS2? This sub forum is primarily for the S2. In the custom recovery did you specify to backup to the external SD card? the nandroid should be in a folder called clockworkmod (there is a folder there called backups)

I am on the sgs3...i just found this thread before making a new one...

Okay i found the files...they are saved under CWM on my phone when i click on storage ...but they are saved on " Sdcard0 " not on my external sd card?? Does that mean its on the internal memory?? I'm confused....what is sdcard0 ??

Yes they are one your phones internal "sdcard". You can copy them from there. when you make your nandroid In the future, look for the option to backup to external sd card if you want it there.
