Help Only playing part of ringtone

This worked fine for the first few days, but my ringtone has now started only playing half/less when I get a notification

I've been using the default whistle tone (dee dee dee dee dee) but most of the time I only hear it as dee dee dee.

It's getting really really annoying, tried going to silent and back and tried changing the ringtone back.

Any help on this?

Bump again - I cant be the only one experiencing this? I have one other mate with an S3 and he also has it...

Tried changing ringtone to no avail. All installed apps incase any cause known problems:
British Airways
Diceshaker
Doodle Jump
Dropbox
Facebook
Fruit Ninja
Racing Post (William Hill)
Sky Sports
Sky +
Twitter
Universal Password Manager
Zedge (This was my first thought of what could be causing the problem...mate has never heard of it)

bumping this AGAIN. I did a factory reset and it went away for a while.

However it seems to have reappeared and I think i know why. It happened when i set my email to vibrate as well as play a notification tone. Even though I've now set it back to just a tone....it's still doing it

Mine has now returned it its full glory....doing it for every single text and most of the time my ringtone lasts for literally a millisecond. Inaudible if it's in pocket!

Must be a solution somewhere?

does anyone else have this problem? two of us are seeing this so there must be a solution! keep trying to look it up.

Sorry for the constant spam....this is now doing my head in. Its getting worse on my mates phone too. Also, Im almost certain my alarm didnt go off this morning!!

Try changing the motion settings relating to palm to mute and flip to mute.

Apparently those features are a little buggy.

I am sure I read somewhere that it's maybe a problem with conversation settings, not sure as I don't have the phone.

I read that deleting long message threads helps. I have mine set to 200 per conversation so they never get too long anyway!

No help on the topic but a guy that I work with sometimes also had this problem, took it back to the O2 shop as it was within the return period and swapped it for another, dont see him too often but I will ask him next time to see how the new one is.

In the message setting, there is an option to automatically delete messages after a set number. If the conversation is at its limit, when you receive a message, the phone tries to delete the oldest message in the conversation, cancelling the notification. Deselect the check box, and your notifications should play properly again

This sounds exactly like what I was describing in my thread.

The fix you describe also makes sense because I was having trouble with one certain number which was my longest and oldest text conversation. I've unchecked that box so I will see if that fixes my problem.

*EDIT* I just tested mine and this did fix my issue. Thanks so much for posting this.
