Open Camera and other apps not showing in Google Photos

I've been having issues with Google Photos.. None of the pics I take with Open Camera and several other camera apps show in my Google Photos app, including when I try to use the AR stickers with the default camera app.

The pictures seem to save, if I go to my files I can find them, but the Photos app itself won't show anything.

This also happens when I try to download pictures from Chrome and Facebook.

Any clue on how to fix this?

FYI, I have a Google Pixel XL
 
Most likely Google Photos isn't looking in the directory Open Camera is saving pictures in.

On my Pixel it does see OpenCamera pictures. You could go into Open Camera's settings and choose where it saves pictures to (Open Camera, Settings, More camera controls, Save location). On mine it's set to /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/OpenCamera, while the Camera app stores in /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera, but I think my phone is just treating everything in DCIM as "Camera" (i.e. Google Photos is not distinguishing between subdirectories of /storage/emulated/0/DCIM).

Otherwise, by default Google Photos usually detects when an image is saved to a new directory and asks whether you want it to back up photos from that directory. It could be that you told it "no" at some point, and it's therefore ignoring the folder Open Camera stores images in. Go into Google Photos' settings > Backup & sync > Back up device photos and you can see what folders it backs up (as noted above, I think it also does subfolders of those). That may well account for why it's not showing your downloaded photos.

I've tried both of these already, unfortunately.. The folder for open camera won't even show up as a device folder in Photos
