open .htm file in Chrome

dougham

Newbie
i have all my favourite links in a .htm file I have created myself and use in Windows. I can't seem to use it on my Asus Transformer. When I tap the .htm file it opens up the "Complete Action Using" with DB text editor and html viewer. If I long press and open in new tab, Kinsoft Office opens it up, not Chrome.
Kingsoft Office does not have any defaults so why does it open?
How can I get Crome to display the page?

I'm not sure myself, but I think you will have a better shot at an answer in the Android Lounge. I moved the thread over for you.:)

Good luck.

First thing you do is to get ES File explorer if you don't already. Then browse to your .htm file and long press to select. Then select the options menu (three square dots lower right) and choose "open as". Now put a check in the "use as default" box first to make chrome your default app for .htm files. Then scroll to chrome and select. You file should open in chrome now.

With ES File Explorer, you can also put a shortcut to your file on your home screen, if you want.

For some reason Chrome does not have a local htm/html viewing capability presented in the list. Boat, Opera, Dolphin, and Firefox do.

HTML viewer is one of the options you listed. Use it.

Thanks for your answer, lunatic59. Using ES Explorer to attach to Chrome works well. However, when I create a shortcut and tap the shortcut, I'm back to the "Cpltete Action Using" screen, with no Chrome option.

That's OK typing the path in Chrome, or ny browser, but I want a link set up. Can ES Explorer access the home screen? How do I find it in ES Explorer, then I can try attching the shortcut to Chrome.
