Help Opening one app opens a bunch of others.

When I open up apps, usually messaging app, but it happens with others, it will open for example my contacts. And when I try to back out I have to go through a lot of other recently used apps. Like the play store, Gmail, etc.

This doesn't happen all the time, but numerous times a day.

Any thing I can do to fix this? Faulty device? Glitch?
