Opinion about Nexus 5 availability through carriers?

Rumour has it all carriers will have them in the UK . But does it matter if you have a Sim free one from Google. Pick the best deal for yo on the Sim only plans. 4G is scarce around the middle of Berkshire at the moment so I think I will go with a 3G plan till the carriers build it out.
