Root Opinion. Asking all OTA accepters

I just got my replacement from Virgin. I accepted the OTA. Everything seems good. But I was wondering what others think? Have your stuck with the radio that came from the OTA.? Just curious. I used a radio from the fix your evo thread last time so I don't have any experience with this one.

its the same radio. no?

Ok, I've been running the OTA ever since it came out and I have used the previous "Turn your phone to Evo 3d" radio posted there too before the OTA came out. The OTA works just fine, no glitches that I have noticed caused by the update, everything runs just as great as before. Radio wise, I have only had like 1 or 2 radio interference errors post OTA, and those seemed to happen because I sent like 3 replies to different people in like the same 5 seconds but they all quickly sent after I said ok on the error and it corrected. I'd say just stick with the OTA if you've already done it, not worth going back and putting the Evo 3d thread radio on in my onion.

I've been asking this question for a while, since I'm recommending installing the OTA firmware in my XDA rooting and S-OFF thread, and so far the only negative I've heard was from one user that said his phone was overheating with it installed but I don't see how that could be related to the firmware.

There's no doubt that the original "fix everything" thread had it's purpose when the original firmware was the only official VM release, but now that baseband version 1.09.00.0706 is available and contains the same radio and firmware as the Evo 3D ICS version, it doesn't make sense to back level the radio and PRI to Sprint GB versions that are out-of-date unless you are having problems with the official version. The PRL is a matter of opinion, but I always use the current version from the update function in system settings and have never had any problems with that.

For anyone who is S-OFF and on back-level firmware, krowley3 has a post near the beginning of prinny's OTA update thread with just the firmware updates, and joe_blow has a new "fix everything" thread that installs a custom bootloader and recovery along with all the current VM firmware.
