Help [OPINION] "Polaris Office 3" or "Office Suite Pro 5"

HI EVERYBODY,
on Monday i have Received finally my ASUS Transformer, the very next day i was lucky and on the Amazon App Store the Free App of the day was a $15 Office Suite that i Downloaded and Installed immediately, it's called "OFFICE SUITE PRO 5" and then i started testing out comparing it with the "POLARIS OFFICE 3" that is Pre-Installed on my Transformer.


Considering i had this Computer for only few days, i still haven't figured out which one is best... i noticed that "Office Suite Pro 5" has a problem opening some .pdf and all the letters appear scrambled on the screen, BUT the home interface of "Office Suite Pro 5" is nicer, more user friendly, and has many more options than Polaris, infact i was able to set my Default Documents Directory to my MicroSD instead of the Internal Memory, a feature that is not available on the Polaris.

so... i ask you guys that had Polaris Office for a long time:

WHICH ONE DO YOU PREFER?

What problems have you found with Polaris?

And if anyone has Office Suite Pro, what problems have you found on that one?


I am asking this because i really don't like the idea of having 2 programs that do the same thing, so eventually i will get rid of one unless one is great for a thing and the other one is great for something else

I've used Polaris Office, QuickOffice Pro HD, and now Office Suite Pro, extensively, and I use this for taking notes in class 4 nights a week (using the Transformer + keyboard dock). I've also used trials of the other office apps like Docs To Go and ThinkFree. In my opinion, Office Suite Pro is the best of this group, and the fact that you could recently get it for free on the Amazon App Store is a great deal that I hope others were able to take advantage of. The most useful features of Office Suite Pro to me are the formatting toolbar (bold/italics, etc.) and the great support for bullets/numbering with indenting controlled by the tab key.
 
I've posted my opinion of the spreadsheet portion of Polaris Office here on these forums. If you want the short answer, it sucks. I would rather wait several minutes for my laptop to turn on to use Excel than use Polaris Office's spreadsheet because it would save me time.
 
OfficeSuite can save edited documents in MS Office 2007/2010 format (file formats that end in "X"). Polaris cannot do that, even with the recent upgrade. For that reason only, I vote for OfficeSuite.
 
You can get it by searching the Amazon Appstore. You've got about six hours to download it free. Then it goes back to $15.
 
I have two problems with OfficeSuite Pro 5.

The first - A few weeks ago I stopped being able to open my google docs formatted .xls documents in my one google docs account in OfficeSuite Pro. I can see all my files and then when I click on an .xls file it says error cannot connect to your google account. Once I get that error I lose the ability to open any other file types until I hit the back button and choose to once again connect to my google account. At this time I can open any file type except .xls. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling. The weird part is that I added my other google docs account to OfficeSuite Pro and with that account I can open the same problematic .xls file without problems.

2nd Problem - OfficeSuite Pro does not recognize cell spacing when done from a computer in Google Docs. This means that if a cell has wrapping text you will not see the second line of text without editing again by hand in OfficeSuite Pro.

If anyone has any ideas about either of these problems I would love to hear from you.
 
Now OfficeSuitePro costs $0.99 for a limited time. I was going to test it but ,after reading this chart, I think I'm not

Hello all, whinge time first. I would cheerfully wring the necks of the Polaris developers:mad:. This %$#@* program has crashed 5 times now in 6 weeks, each time after a few happy times when it didn't crash (which always gives one false hope), and it has cost me oodles of work (not to mention a few tears and a bit of hypertensive huffing).
Comment time now: I looked at this and other forums, bit the bullet, bought and installed OfficeSuite Pro 5, and it's been great:D. I heartily recommend it, and the add-on font package. The only fly in the ointment is the lack of a spellchecker (whoever heard of an office-type suite on a decent-sized tablet without a spellchecker???:confused:), but as Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is supposed to be rolling out here in South Korea soon, I hear there is one bundled with the new OS...... can't wait. I can't spell for toffee.
Question time now: Anyone please help me with apps or whatever to aid with recovering my crashed files before I wipe Polaris off the face of my Galaxy Tab 10.1? And come to that, second question, how DO I get rid of that worthless piece of ..... application? It doesn't allow itself to be unistalled from the 'manage applications' tool, and there's no point in wasting space with something I won't be using.

OfficeSuite Pro and QuickOffice both support common keyboard shortcuts like ctrl+b (bold), ctrl+x (cut), ctrl+v (paste). OfficeSuite better handles the shift and ctrl keys for selecting text, e.g. shift+ctrl+left arrow to select the previous word. Polaris handles none of this.
