For Straight Talk you buy the AT&T or TMo compatible SIM.

Fwiw, the value plans require a two year contract. I wish they had one year contacts as I like some of the plans, especially with 500 minutes.

Yeah, the contract aspect sucks. Especially since there isn't a real justification for it considering they aren't recouping any costs. However, It's still the best deal I've found for our particular situation and I don't see any reason I'd want to leave T-Mobile anytime soon. Consequently, I'm ok with the contract. I wouldn't be surprised if it went away or changed (like moved to a 1 year) once T-Mobile does away with the classic plans.
