Help Opinions wanted

I am a current owner of a MetroPCS Huawei Ascend and am considering making the jump to 4g speed. If anyone out there has owned both the Ascend and the Indulge, what are the pros and cons of each. I know the indulge has a faster proc, and 2.2 and 4g, but it also has horrible battery life from what i understand. Are there any custom roms for it like Icarus 1.1 for the Ascend? Dont mean to inundate you all with questions, but i'm rather new to the Android scene and whereas i love my ascend, I'm constantly trying to get better and better. Thanks in advance!!

no comparison at all..indulge is a nice phone and IMO the best phone metro has to offer right now

if wait until 5-01 its going to drop 100 dollars...no rebate

Battery life with 4g turned off is great... Our support (not from Samsung or MetroPCS... which pisses me off more than the fact that we need support) team from ACS are working on a much better ROM that should have been the stock one in the first place.

4G is great when you have the signal and want to use it but one issue is that speeds away from Texas are much lower than those in... by a lot. The other issue is the phone turns into a heat rock that absorbs battery life at the speed of light.

Those seem to be the only complaints I have... for now.

I bought the indulge durin the rebate time for $299.99 from Best Buy Mobile. They matched the price.

The Indulge hands down is a better phone than the Ascend! I just came back and bought a 2nd Indulge 2 days ago. I'm not sure why, but the battery issue doesn't seem so extreme with this new 2nd one. It might be my imagination.
But the battery issue IS why I left. So if you can't abide the thought of having to swap batteries to get a full day of actual use, this may not be the phone for you. All smarty phones have battery issues, but the Indulge has a pretty big problem w/ it. But it beats out the Ascend by a mile!

When everything is working correctly at MetroPCS, the phone itself is awesome! You can't play Angry birds on the Ascend, but the 1gz processor in the Indulge is fast!

Samsungs support sucks though.......I don't know about Huawei's. Been there, it's no fun.

Really you are talking about the difference between a soap box racer and a Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition (not quite an Expedition yet) The Optimus M would be a Hyundei w/ leather and a cassette deck. No 4g.

I would hold out for a year or so until Metro and Samsung can catch up with things. But the phone is not horriable.

If you don't mind switching off the 4G when not in use (the ROM hack to add a toggle will make the phone perfect in this regard), it's a great phone. I run in 1x most of the time and kick to 4x if I want to use the internet for faster apps (video, streaming audio) and that's great.

The 4G battery life is fine - for "in use" battery life. The problem is when the 4G is enabled, it treats standby time as in use. You almost see no difference between using the internet on 4G or just having it in your pocket. Making phone calls prolongs it!

Anyway, the hidden codes people found makes it so you can keep 4G off entirely until you want it, which has made the battery life go to a far, far more acceptable "multiple days" kind of deal.

well I got my indulge today and I'm loving it. Im an apple fan but his is the next best thing. I love it. Fast,great qwerty keyboard and on screen keyboard,battery still kicking and just got it at 5 pm and is still on 45% with LTE on

Nice huh? I've been tweeking mine last few days. I'm loving launcher pro with the icon pack. This with the root makes it mine! I like the three docks I've added with my own icons. All customised ringtones, Bloatware gone.....Life is good. This phone really IS sweet.

Now if only I could find a nice case for my 5 batteries.......and charger. lol (instead of crying ha ha)
