Hi All,
I have an Optimus F3 that I've been trying to revive for months but no luck and looking for help.
Status:
Physically, not damaged in any way. Never dropped, never dunked.
When last seen alive months ago: LG logo would appear on screen but then disappear.
Now: Have not seen anything on screen ever
Last attempt to revive: bought a (supposedly tested working) main board from ebay.
Installed very carefully. No broken flex cables, everything fit together perfectly.
Batteries (2): fully charged using stand alone charger.
History:
My F3 initially started to fail after upgrading to version V8... AND... Immediately after running the TRIM utility my eMMC storage stated size shrunk to 128MB (seen many others report this). Seems to me to be a variant of the BrickBug problem which can be triggered by TRIM. Then started doing complete factory reset on every boot. Then just LG logo, now nothing.
Side notes: Long before F3 died completely, I used Board Diag 3.9 to reflash V5 and it worked perfectly for at least a year. After running TRIM command and getting the 128MB size error, the same Board Diag 3.9 reflash failed stating storage size error, would not attempt reflash. Makes sense.
Now, with new mainboard, still all attempts to get anything to show on screen fail.
However, plugging into PC shows its internally alive. Ran Board Diag 3.9 reflash and it completes all storage tests successfully and re-flashes all partitions successfully... But still NOTHING on screen! Won't boot.
I'm stumped! I doubled checked the internal screen connector to the main board. Undamaged cable. plugged in perfectly. Could the screen just have died?
Also, has anyone every heard of a Lock-Switch on the F3? A contributor on IFIXIT posted a comment stating "when Optimus F3 won't boot, be sure to check that Lock-Switch is functioning and not damaged".
Where is the Lock-Switch?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert
EDIT UPDATE: I just figured out that something is severely draining the battery if it's left in the phone. Since the mainboard is new, I doubt its that. Any ideas?
