Help optimus 2x and gif?

Hello, i just wondered why my phone cant show or preview gif images when my girlfriend's phones htc magic and desire z can play them and even use as wallpaper

It has to be because you can only select it as a simple image file, but HTC
could have a plugin that handles GIFs as live wallpaper.

You can, however use the market (being an experienced Android user)
to download an app for that, e.g. "AnimGIF live wallpaper 2" which seems to
be working fine for this purpose.

Ok, thanks, but my point being is that its redicoulus of lg or google to make htc capable to preview animated gif's without other programs while lg cant-.-
