It's alright, I think it's a pan-persistent Maps issue they've yet to really fix. I've had that same problem countless times. Also, it is difficult both in-home and in a car (potential faraday cage if made of metal, makes it rather difficult to lock down an initial signal, but once it finds it it's easy to keep track of) is more difficult to get a GPS signal through, at least for myself anyway. Try starting Maps and Navigation outside. Anyway, here's how I get around that problem:
1. Go under System Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Data Enabled (check that box to turn on 3G, as I assume you're using navigation for long-distance travel outside of a wifi network

).
2. Go back to System Settings, followed by Location & Security > Use GPS Satellites (check this box).
3. Run the Maps app rather than Navigation.
4. Make sure that Maps sees your location (not a blue perimeter circle around your location, which is how it starts before it narrows it down to your exact position).
5. In the Maps app, press the Menu key on the phone to bring up the option of "Directions."
6. The starting point should say "My Location" in blue, and the destination you can type in.
7. Once it loads a route/map from your position to your destination, within the Maps app it will have a small button in the upper-righthand corner that says "Navigate", press it, and it will give you the voice directions a la TomTom GPS style.
Did that work?
