Help Optimus "five"

"V" is for VIRGIN MOBILE Not "FIVE"

"S" is for SPRINT

"T" is for T-Mobile

Sure you already knew that, but LG makes them for each carrier.

Anybody else have this (trivial) problem? Can't stop myself from saying Optimus five, instead of Optimus "V".:D

I said Optimus Five at first and the guy at Radio Shack made fun of me :)

When i purchased mine the guy at the Radio Shack tried everything he could to sell me a sprint plan, the phone was not even on the shelves and it took him 5 minutes to find it in the stock room, after trying to tell me i had to purchase a refill card for this phone to work i laughed at him,and told him about the service price and how it works even after that he still kept asking if i wanted a free phone.and a phone card.

lol I had a rep from VM while ordering my phone (yes, I ordered over the phone god forbid which btw was apparently never ordered lol) and he kept saying Optimus Five, than again, if someone could spend thirty minutes on the phone with me trying to order a phone that apparently never got ordered, who says I can trust him :P I ended up ordering on the website and that went fine. The guy even was trying to charge me shipping even though it's free on the website

SAME HERE! The woman at my radio shack tried to do the same thing. I felt bad to have to cut her off really fast because she had to know that I walked into the store already knowing what I was going to buy. Oh, what joy commission brings...

I think the virgin of old earned itself a pretty bad reputation as being complicated and subpar service quality as a whole. Since being acquired by Sprint, they've come leaps and bounds and I welcome them overtaking metro-piece-of-crap as the premier no contact service provider.

The jerks at Radio Shack hassled me on the first one I got.
He insisted he had to "activate" the phone. I said it was a prepaid phone, and that I said I was sending the phone to someone else, and he stopped his insistence......

Same thing for the BroadBand2Go card when they first came out. I knew they had to be activated in the pc. He insisted he must activate it.
I said "go ahead"......Well, of course, that failed. Then I said "TOLD YOU SO, YOU JUST WASTED MY TIME AND YOURS".

Radio Shack thinks they are the experts on phones, but they have a long way to go!

The employees are most likely told/threatened to upsell people with the activation cards. I ended up getting the Optimus from Radio Shack because Best Buy's prices went up, but when I went there the lady said I had to get the phone for $200 and when she got it out of the case she grabbed a $50 activation card and said "you'll need this too". I was like "uh, $50 for a $25 service?"

I got hassled to get Sprint service and a better phone. I told him no. He tried to sell me on Tmobile as well. Saying what a deal the plan that is using is. He said he pays 110 a month for service. I laughed and said just sell me the phone for my $25 a month plan. His big retort was he gets unlimited minutes. I said for the extra $85 a month you're paying I'd have to talk 5 or 6 hours a month before it came close. (I think it is closer to 7 in reality)

He insisted I would be back for a real phone and plan. And finished with I can get you an iphone.

I informed him I was replacing my iphone with my Optimus.

that's funny. when i called to my local radio shack to see if they had them in stock when i knew i wanted one, i asked for an "optimus v" and the radio shack guy goes "oh, you mean the optimus FIVE?"

he was so condescending i decided to go to best buy instead.

Optimus V are back in stores the Price is the same as the Samsung on, i think LG better product, i don care about the Slide keyboard thing rather deal with touch instead.

So wonder since back in stock they going to have it back down to $149 by summer or what. seen a few on ebay that are possbile hacked jobs or bricked.

what funny stories :)

I played with this phone's variant(Lg optimus S) as I am considering buying it for my cousin. Honestly, if the screen was a wee bigger and it had a 5 megapixel camera I'd go for it. It's pretty fast, considering it is a low end device and it's totally cute

But I hate radio shack but i only deal with them when the phone is cheaper there instead of BB but i've discovered Walmart now has cheaper phones(I got an HD7 for free at Walmart) that was like 98 bucks at Radio shack

in my opinion you overlook the few thing the V does not have, when you consider that all it has to do is work when called upon, and how much you save in the service cost and this phone with what you pay does this and pretty good.i am very pleased since they fixed the data issues, with my decision to go with this deal.

this would definitely be the phone i'd get if i ever wanted to go to VM.

I am surprised Boost doesn't have it's own variant of this phone.

LG definitely did well with this phone

The impression I get when I go in "the shack" or someone tells me about when they went is that they know nothing, but claim to be experts to sell you overpriced merch. ie trying to sell you a $50+ HDMI Cable.

I guess we have a really cool Radio Shack. Went once to get a VM phone for my kid, then returned to get my own a few days later. Friendly hassle-free service both times, two different sales guys.

Best Buy....they might be OK if I could ever get anyone's attention...tried to see one there and walked out after being ignored for 10 minutes.

I have the exact opposite problem at the Best Buys around here. I can't go 3 minutes without someone asking me if I need help or something. I'll decline and walk away and as soon as I touch a display (today it was a Xoom Tablet) someone else runs over to ask... I just wanted to play around with the display!

Same way here. Can't go down an isle without someone pestering you.
(especially in the mobile phone dept). Maybe they work on commission???

Or maybe they're giving aggressive customer service to deter theft in big stores.

All the prepaid phones are out on the floor on peghooks.

Unless they were locked up, why were you trying to catch their attention?

lol they probably work on commission.

I dont mind it so much that they ask for help...it is their job(i worked in retail before i started modeling)

But once i say "I'll let ya know" that means leave me alone

The guys at my local radioshack are always super-friendly and helpful, never pushy. And they always set up any new phone I get and apply the screen protector for me. I wouldn't go anywhere else for electronics.

You say that, and when I last spoke with a Boost CSR she told me that its a possibility. The LG OPTIMUS B. If they did, I'd probably switch back. I like the sound of it anyway.

Because I wasn't sure which phone I wanted at the time and was hoping someone could answer some questions for me.

Which the Radio Shack guys were happy to do.
