Optimus M snafu

This post is probably in the wrong spot, but i was wondering if there is any way to locate my phone. Updated the rom to zero then punk took my phone. Didn't load anything back on it or reactivate data, only linked to my gmail through wifi. Just want to beat some sorry butt, is there any way to find my phone? or should i give up. Backed up whole phone including carrier settings if it makes any difference.

Well, there are a couple of things you could do.
One would be to call Metro and tell them to deactivate service for that phone. At least they won't be able to use it.

This is what I would do to retrieve my phone if I were in your shoes nd had no way to locate it or lock it.

Spoof call your phone with a number from a local authority. You'll need someone with a good phone voice and attitude to call and tell them we have a complaint from the owner of the phone and that, if they were to drop it off at (name your police precinct) there would be no charges filed.
Might work, especially if you know who took it.
How you explain to those authorities at that police precinct that you need to pick up you phone and how it got there will be another detail you'll need to work out.

That's a cool find!!
But my idea is more fun when you think about the urine created when the thief thinks the police are telling him to return the phone or we'll have to come and get it.

I got SeekDroid for free from the Amazon Appstore a while ago. You can enable pin lock, sound an alarm, perform GPS tracking and see the last 10 calls made from the phone. If you enable the options, you can also remotely wipe your phone and/or SD Card. The app can also be hidden to prevent a proper uninstall.

There are also several others. Some allow you to perform backups remotely in case you're someone who doesn't make regular backups.

AVG Mobile has a Remote Management features, incl location service, remote control, locking the phone, setting a screen lock etc. Simple registration of the phone id thru your GMail. All free.
