Help Optimus V doesn't light up when you receive a text?

When I receive a text message, my Optimus V screen doesn't light up, like most phones usually do. I thought this was considered "standard" for all phones, smart or not.

Is mine acting weird or am I just missing some option somewhere? I'm pretty sure I've scoured everywhere, but maybe not.

All I know is that it's very useful for a phone to light up when you receive a message, especially when you have it on silent and rely on it lighting up.

downloaded and installed it, it's alright. wish there was something that could make the screen flash, but oh well. thanks dude!
 
There is a free app called "easy reminder" in the android market that you can set up so that your phone will give an audible alert or vibrate every so often to remind you to check a message or if you miss a call. Coming from the blackberry that had the led light I needed something to alert me to missed calls and messages and this seems to be the best alternative.

There is an option in NoLED to make the screen blink when you get messages, as well as vibrate and make sounds, if desired. Click the menu button...it has a lot of options in those respects. One nice thing is that you can use it for more than just SMS, if desired.

yeah, saw that "blink" option and set it for 1 second, then had a friend text me but the screen didn't blink when i received it.

You might recheck your settings...I just checked it here with a test message...it's working for me at least.
 
Doesn't Handcent have a blinking screen option?
I don't own a Android phone yet, hoping to get the Optimus V this week.
 
Handcent has an option to display a pop-up window (optionally containing the message itself) when a text message comes in.
 
downloaded handcent to give it a try, but i don't need a complicated messaging app. i prefer the stock one with SMSPopup.

Yes- and it can leave the screen dark with that popup or it can light it up, it's a setting.

I love Handcent. Been using it on one Droid phone or another for 6 months now.
 
GoSMS has a cool popup feature also. Very similar to handcent, I just use GoSMS because I am also using GoLauncher.
