Optimus V or wait and save for Triumph?

I am almost close to having enough money to buy the Optimus V at Radioshack thanks to the price deduction. :) I was wondering if I should get that or, save up more and buy the Triumph when it comes out. I don't really need all the features on the Triumph such as the HDMI or Front-Facing Camera which is why I think that the Optimus V is great for me especially considering the price. What do you think? All input would be greatly appreciated.

My Optimus V broke and I'm probably going to get the Triumph. It has a much better screen, camera, and I think battery. The Optimus V's processor isn't good enough to play flash, but the Triumph's will. Hope this helps.

im faced with the same tough decision. im thinking i may just wait for the triumph

Yeah. It's a tough dilemma. I could probably get The Optimus V at Radioshack for around $130 after tax because of the Foursquare deal right now. If I were to wait for the Triumph, which I am guessing will be $250 without the Foursquare deal then I would be paying around $120 more before factoring in tax. To me I don't think it's worth it seeing as I don't care for flash on my phone. I just want to be able to browse the web, update Facebook, etc. If I really can't stand the Optimus V in a year I can just upgrade to the Triumph. I can't see myself walking around with a $250 phone either. :) The Optimus V looks fine for me, but I am just concerned over its battery life.

where is the foursquare deal? may i have a link please?

Supposedly this has worked for people over the Memorial Day Sale at Radioshack. You have to check in with a device such as a smartphone. Here's the link to the thread. http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-v/344694-optimus-v-memorial-day-sales.html#post2757812

Online it looks like for my local store it is supposed to expire on 6/30/11. Basically it looks like for the Newbie Special you get 20% off of the Optimus V at Radioshack. Hopefully it works. I am sort of banking on using that promo if I go for the Optimus V.

Someone else posted that target has a ninety day return policy. Buy the optimus now while its on saleand exchange it later.

Think I am just going to go with the Optimus V. Hopefully Radioshack won't give me a problem about purchasing it and not buying minutes quite yet. Kind of planning on using at least some of my T-Mobile Prepaid Minutes before porting my number and activating the Optimus V. Of course I just had to refill it a week ago.:(

You can use wifi to to around with the phone, browse, receive emails, but no calls or sms until phone is activated.

I am a newbie to the whole VM and optimus V thing. Even though the V is still kind of new to me I know some of you have had it for a while but I can't see buying the Triumph right now. A lady I work with has a phone with Sprint that has a 4inch screen or whatever with slide out keyboard (Galaxy S maybe) and to me it is really awkward and kind of big for a phone. To me I would rather keep my V with a 3.2 inch screen for a phone and spend 250.00 (Assuming the triumph is 250.00 ) on an 8 or 10 inch coby kyros tablet for use on wifi. That's just my opinion though. Thanks

I wonder what the return policy is at Radioshack. Guess I'll find out if I buy it there. Hopefully it is 30 days though. That will give me enough time to activate it and try it out. I am already under the impression that 3G is bad in my city as someone pointed out on another forum. Won't be able to know for myself until I take the plunge.:)

The Triumph's battery it 1400mah while the Optimus V is 1500mah.

Does that mean the battery life on the Optimus is better? Also, with the processor on the Triumph, I am guessing it'd probably really suck up battery life. Not sure though.

my husband told me to wait >.>

....this is gonna take forever!

I am totally ready! But thanks to Radioshack's lame policies  they are making it difficult since I have to activate it right on the spot. One store I asked about the Foursquare deal said that it is a 10% discount, but I don't think he was aware of the Newbie Checkin deal.

I remember once I went to my local Radioshack to buy a Virgin Mobile phone back in 2008. I don't think they required me to purchase minutes. However, it seems as that particular store does not accept the Foursquare deal.:(

Anyone have suggestions on how to get Radioshack to sell it to me without buying minutes? I read somewhere they collect a $5 commission by selling minutes.

I came from Sprint and the Evo. While I like the Optimus alot, it can't compare to the screen real estate that the Evo had. All other specs aside, the 4"+ screens are awesome, and can't wait to get it. I feel so cramped on the Optimus keyboard and during some internet viewings.

they tried to pull that crap with me and I told them that I'm switching my old number so I couldn't do it in store.

Good idea. I could say that to them. It's really annoying. I absolutely hate Radioshack. Once I went with someone to get cables there and they asked for an address and e-mail for a mailing list. I don't understand why they can't just ring someone up.

Remind Radio Shack that it is a prepaid phone and VM will activate it over the air or the internet. This is not a contract phone, and they do not have to activate in the store. I bought mine there and took it home to activate it. Just stand firm, they do want to make the sale.

What if the phone is supposed to be a gift? You wouldn't want to activate it in your name for someone else.

Most mall stores do that these days. Radioshack is the best, they have incredible customer service. You buy a phone at wal-mart, they hand you the phone and send you on your way. Radioshack takes the time to set up your phone for you (I have never felt the need to do it myself). They will put on screen protectors for you, take the time to explain the phone if it is your first smartphone. I have a very good repoir(sp?) with the helpful guys at my local Radioshack.
