Root Orange 3 Button Recovery Problem

Hi all,

I've had my Galaxy for around 3 months now, it's been really good so far a little laggy at times. Recently I've upgraded to Froyo and the phone is much slower with many more black screens and hanging.

I've researched about installing a new ROM to fix this, either a customised one or an unmodified stock and lagfixing it.

I've researched it quite a bit before i've done anything, i'm not awful at this i've soft modded Wii's and PSP's before but never a phone. I can't get my Orange phone to go into download mode or recovery mode.

Is there any way round this? as i've found a couple of solutions but they seem risky and complicated?

hi there check this link out it should tell you all you will need to know as well as a few explanations, it explains how to install Darkys ROM which is what i used. I had the same issue as you, updated my SGS to 2.2 and found it was worse than 2.1, but now that i have this flashed i'm very pleased!

Thanks for replying, that was the ROM i was considering.

You could not set your phone in recovery/download mode either? It's that sticking point that complicates me rooting the phone. THe 3 button recovery function has been disabled by Orange (they have only done it on some phones it seems).

All sorted I think... found this How to get the 3 button recovery mode working

I think thats the only way that I can fix this so I can flash my phone.

yeah i cant say i had the same issue i've always been able to 3button my phone, glad to see it resolved anyway!

Bugger. I got a Galaxy on Orange and having probs with it. Cant get into recovery mode.
