Orange update 1.84.61.2

My orange phone flashed up to tell me this is available. I have searched the web and can find no details in what this upgrade does. I would like know first due to the 2.2.1 upgrade fiasco a short while back.

Has anyone applied this update yet? Anything new?

Yup, maybe your phone has not polled yet, run the update checker manually and see if it tells you if an update?

I could not see anything on there website, hence my question. Did you get the 2.2.1 update, I didn't, maybe that's why it is not showing up for you, or maybe they are doing a tiered roll out of the upgrade.

I did the 2.2.1 1.84.61.2 update from orange on Tuesday 15th March. Saw update and did it, not realising that rooting is only available on 2.2 downwards at the moment.

I have updated my orange HTC Desire yesterday so that it is on Android 2.2.1 software number 1.84.61.2.

I have unpluged it this morning and 3 and a half hours later I am getting a less than 15% battery warning, my battery before the upgrade was getting at least a day for my normal use (text, phone calls and 2 hrs or so of Audible), less than a day if I was using heavy data use.

Has anyone else experience this kinda of battery loss?

Thanks
Ryot

Have you got htc sense sync ,I have heard that disabling this might do the trick, worth a try

That looks like the issue, I do have HTC sense sync which looks like it is syncing continuously.

Cheers
Ryot

Yup, HTC sync is screwing up the phone for some reason. Checking logs it constantly refreshes and cannot connect, so disable..

Also some people on Orange on unbranded, it isn't out yet, but look out for version 1.84.707.2 if it does come to us.

Only issue I am having is it will not let me sign into YouTube. Says my password is incorrect. Which it isn't, I just signed on using the mobile website with no issues. Irritating.

Did you tried to update Youtube on market,or if you have latest ver.try unninstall it!and then try to login.

Have downloaded the RUU file and am running a DHD on the 3 network but rooted. Will I be able to install this on my handset.

So - I'm one of the (un?)lucky ones who has 2.2.1, 1.72.405.3.

I've got a 3 handset which only appears to be "lightly" branded - bookmarks in the browser came preloaded, few apps such as soundhound can't be uninstalled.

Does anyone know if it's the Android version that's checked, or the build, when updates are scanned?

Basically, am I going to (eventually) get this update or not?

I haven't had any of the major issues other ppl have reported with the old 2.2.1 update, but things like notifications are a bit buggered.

As I said im on 3 UK, branded handset (boot up screen) and have 2.2 not 2.2.1 my build number is 1.37.771.3

Any news on when this handset is gonna update?

Right little update, basically have had the phone unlocked though its still got the horrible 3 boot screen. Will this mean that if I was for example to use another network sim will I be able to get this update as my battery life is appalling.
