Help Orientation after 2.2

After 2.2 (stock update done whilst away for repair by HTC) my phone will flip orientation WAY too much, sometimes only the slightest turn will trigger it but occasionally no movement is required at all (as in it's flat on the desk) - I do realise 2.2 added the feature that the app remembers the last orientation but it's happening even when the last use was portrait.

It's so random I've now switched it off completely (orientation not the phone).

Am i alone in thinking this feature is way too sensitive after the 2.2 update ?

Seems fine to me, but I don't use Sense UI or even a HTC sense based rom.

I'm not sure if I experienced it with a vanilla Froyo 2.2 before I sent my phone back for repair ... It's a shame cos I preferred the normal, non-sense froyo myself.

Just don't want to risk downgrading the bootloader just yet though.
