Help Orientation problem with Google Maps

I had the same problem with my HTC Sensation 4G as well. When navigating to a destination with Google Maps, the compass orientation is constantly between 20 to 90 degrees off. Makes it quite useless.

I tried the rotate the phone around all axises thing multiple times with both phones without any luck.

So my questions are: Why does this happen? Is it possible to fix at all? And why did I have the same problem with both phones? Why doesn't "calibration" work? Does this work on other Android phones, or iPhones, or do everybody have the same problem?

Thank you for your answer.

I don't have the problem with three different phones. (See exception at the end, but first do...)

Check out "GPS Status & Toolbox"

Tap the wrench, perform calibrations, then manage a-GPS, reset data and again to download - try again.

And mine is pulled off 90° if too close to one spot in my wife's hybrid. Turn off the car and it corrects itself. Weirdest thing.
