OS 4.0.4 Default File Manager

Hi... I have been using android phones for some time with total satisfaction . I have now added an android 4.0.4 tablet with a 9.7" display with its standard embedded apps.

I try to maintain the storage and system to prevent any loss of performance with regular cleaning and deletions and to get used to the file sytems I opted to look through the default File Manager.

Whilst there are some similarities in the presentation of the file systems to others I have used ,eg Windows, I have a problem with one of the heading tabs in the opening screen.

I can see the tabs that are in use and not in use (like ext sd and usb) but there is a tab with a picture like logo on it and when I open this file I am getting a huge number of odd image files that seem to be flooding in from goodnesss knows where. A large number are .png files which I am unfamiliar with. Some seem to be spurious ad logos that pop up occasionally that somehow get saved in there. 3 days ago I deleted some 300 of these things and then synced the tablet with my phone. The process imported some 200 photos and placed them in my image folders but also 'copies' in this pictures folder.

Do I have 2 Copies of each picture in the tablet or is the one picture being listed twice. Also if I clear this funny list will I lose the 'proper' copy.

Any help really appreciated..... thank you

Your 'regular cleanings and deletions' have no effect on performance. They are only worthwhile doing if you are low on space. Or your own satisfaction that everything is tidy.

Don't know what you synced but .png files are usually small images used by the system for icons, etc. They don't belong in the pictures folder.
