Help OTA update disappeared

I've been waiting for the 4.0.4 update to appear here in the UK and I got a notification of an update a couple of days ago which I assume might have been it. I left it until I was at home on wifi but when I went to download it, it had disappeared. I've left it a couple of days thinking it might come back. I am going on holiday in 2 days' time. I haven't done anything with Kies and would prefer not to have to start now.
Is there a way to force an OTA update? I am hoping that 4.0.4 will improve my battery life which has suddenly taken a dive, not good timing as I had planned to use my Note as an e-reader amongst many other things while away.

this happened to me. I tried to install this small (84.26mb) upgrade twice and it crashed both times. Then on the third try it was gone. Possibly withdrawn by Samsung?

I'm on holiday with intermittent use of wifi, had several notifications of an update, appearing then disappearing for a few days. Finally upgraded this morning easily. Not very much to report at this stage, hoping battery life has improved as it's pathetic! ;-)

Have u tried going into settings, about phone and then check manually for updates?

I don't believe it! I had been checking manually as allanb85 described above, must have checked 10 times. Just went in to check again so that I could reply that I had done so and the update started to download. I hope it completes OK.

Yes, all downloaded and installed fine. I may be imagining it but I think that battery life has improved a bit.
