If you go to about phone pand go to update coolpad has issued an update for the phone. is it possible to get the coolpad signiture from this pate and use it to create a new r3 recovery so we cotuld flash a prerooted rom or even help root the pho
ne somehow the update downloads directly in system files to phone and shows up as script
But if you go to coolpad inc site go to product support they have this update downloadable to your computer can anything be salvaged in this to help us!

yeah, was gonna ask the same thing after i received the ota notification on my phone the other day. so is it possible to retrieve signature?

The modem, "modem/cp.rom" was included, awesome! When i get my coolpad quattro back, I will try it out. I got the run around for a warranty return on it, had it mailed back.

I just asked about this update in the main area, without even thinking to look in the all thing root section.. stupid me.

I don't see any difference. It's still 2.3.7 with kernel 2.6.35.7
Mine has changed from being mine@mine-virtual#3 to mine@mine-virtual#1, but I don't think that makes any difference.

It's just an update of coolpad's software mostly. It doesn't change from gingerbread or anything.

I'm uploading both now. Hopefully it gets us somewhere, I'd really like to use this phone again.

If we had the signing key that coolpad uses, then we could edit and then resign the zip or create or own zip. Without the key, there is nothing we can do.

sucks. nothing in the update that's obviously useful. just patch files for the current apps. since i screwed up my coolpad, i've been emailing support every couple of days asking for the cp.rom for the modem. it's in the update but since it's signed with coolpad's key, we can't add anything to the update and still pass the verification. every file has an sha1 signature it seems, possibly the whole zip file has one. you change the size of a file or add anything and the update fails. i knew part of it but didn't know it was that strict. again, sux.

ok so the file in "Update_071_079/modem/", "cp.rom" does restore the modem.

so i can't crack the signapk sha1 encryption (sha1!) to add anything to the update. back to square one. i'm thinking of selling this phone and getting a cheap samsung or lg for a spare. it's been pulled from the shelf anyways.
