Root ota updates

What do I need to do if or when I receive an ota update while I am running the custom ROM. Thanks for any replies.

No, I just want to know what to do when the need arises. I just don't want to take a chance on bricking my phone.

Gotcha! I manually applied the build.prop patch to see what version and the update as of now is to 2.3.6. When the revo updated to 2.3.6 root ability was lost so you may want to decline the update until root is accomplished.

You do lose root with V5, but i just ran the same exploit used on v4 and it worked. I will warn that when I got v4 while running CWM, i couldnt get past the cwm screen and had to reflash my phone.

Anyone know what's updated in V5? 2.3.6 only fixed a wifi hotspot issue for Nexus phones, but nothing major, from what I recall. TBH, I'm not going to bother with an update of my stock backup unless there's some worthwhile updates.

Almost every file in /system/apps and /system/framework gets a patch of some sort, but being as this is not officially being pushed to any phone yet, I doubt we will ever find out what it's really up to. As much as I've been trying to dig, I'm coming up blank any getting any info out of Verizon for this patch which means it's probably in very early beta testing stages.

Thats good to hear! On the Revo they actually blocked any access to the /data partition without root access, so is wasn't possible to use the exploit found for the spectrum. Glad to hear it may not be the same here. So did they push the update to you or did you do it manually?

I work for the OEM, so I've had it for almost 2 weeks. I haven't been able to find many differences, except before when I pulled the e-mail notification down on the lockscreen, it would go straight into the e-mail app, but this seems to have been lost in V5. This same action with text messaging still works. Also, I'm pretty sure they updated the PRL. I think the battery life may have improved slightly, but that could be a placebo thing.
