OTG Thumb drive

My son gave me a really cool thumb drive today. It's a Monster Digital 32G thumb drive which is nothing out of the ordinary except that it is an OTG thumb drive that can plug directly into the micro USB port of the N7 (no OTG cable needed). It has a OTG micro USB connector on one end and a full-size 3.0 USB connector on the other end. Monster Digital - Monster Digital

They must be on sale. My son bought 2 (1 for me and 1 for himself) of the 32G models at Staples yesterday. I don't work for Monster and I was just trying to let other N7 owner's know about this thumb drive. This the first OTG capable thumb drive I've ever seen. Are there others?

After a little googling, looks like there are others:

I forgot to add in my first post that you still need to use the Nexus Media Importer or similar app on the N7.

I use one of these with a 64 GB card.

Mini MicroSD Card Reader by Meenova

I have a Meenova card reader as well, but when I plug it into my N7 2013 nothing happens, no light on the reader, and it doesn't show up in Astro file manager like it does on my Maxx. Did you use an app to recognize and read the external card? I looked into the Nexus Media Importer but don't want to put out the money if it won't work. Any help appreciated.
