Other Swipe Keyboards?

So I just found SlideIt. While I like SlideIt, I got to wondering - are there any other swipe-based keyboards out there I can try?

Anybody have any suggestions besies SlideIt and Swype?

FlexT9 has been my keyboard since it was the free app of the day on Amazon. I've tried several others but keep returning to it.

Go Keyboard has that function now.

I see that. Very nice! Is there any way to add your own words to the user dictionary, though?

EDIT - Man. Is this thing just terribly bad at figuring out what word I'm typing or am I just a worse typer than I thought? I have to fight to make it understand which one I'm typing... :( I mean, how does it think I typed "LSD" when I was trying to type "bringing" or "yet" instead of "together"?? Ehh... SlideIt had no issues though... maybe I'll tinker with that for a bit longer and see.

The stock keyboard recently ported from 2.3.4 to the x10 has the same abilities.

Pardon my lack of understanding, but is the x10 a phone? I'm currently running 2.3.5 CM7 so I wonder if... I would maybe have it?? *shrug*

EDIT - Nevermind I see your SE entry in the left pane now.

In other news, I wonder what it was that made "Swype" worth 100 million to Nuance when there are so many other alternatives with similar functionality? I suppose Swype could eventually come at a cost. Does anybody know if the iPhone keyboard, which recently came out with a swipe-like functionality, came out as a free update or do they have to purchase it? I just wonder what will be the best route to go with Swype's future considering it has new parents. Will it always be free? Will it eventually cost money and be the same as SlideIt therefore negating Swype's current +1 of being free over SlideIt? Or will the default Android keyboard adopt similar functionality?

Yes there is. There's a learn new words ticker in the advanced settings. As for accuracy, not much trouble here on my end. I just turned off all languages except English.

I think Swiftkey is 10 times better than Swype.

Swiftkey X isn't a sliding keyboard, is it? At least the version I have isn't. The prediction is better on it is better (I still us it on occasion), but Swype is my standard keyboard.

I tried Go and the sliding is good.. but I don't like the keyboard itself. Most of the qwerty keys don't have a second/long press function. So to get a ? you have to long press the . and then navigate to the ?. Same for a ! -- long press . and pick !.

The lack of secondary/long press keys is a real defect in my opinion. I'll stick with Swype for my sliding input keyboard for now.

My favorite is Shapewriter. Iirc it was bought out by the ppl who do swipe but I find it a bit more accurate and you can add to the dictionary easily. I installed it for my Mom recently too since she loved swipe and she finds it better also.

Its no longer in production but you can find an apk....I got mine from 4shared.

I transferred previously to swype as well, but I guess my fingers are too big as even after using it for a month i still get mistypes. the keyboard on Go is better spaced for my hands. :). As for the double tap instead of long press, it seems fine for me. A little something to put up with just because of the annoying mistypes. :)

I just tried GO. Lots of nice themes, but doesn't seem to be nearly as accurate as Swype. I just keep going back to Swype Beta, it just seems to pick the right word 90% of the time when I miss 30% of the letters. I'm on a 3.2" display. I use 1-2 finger input on a full sized KB, could never get into thumbing, and always use the phone in portrait. Swype is 10X faster than any other for me (tried SwiftX). Keys are too small on any of them!

I've tried flext9, touchpal and go and I just keep coming back to swype.

I just find swype gets the words I want to appear more frequently. Plus, I'm use to the little tricks in swype for doing the ? and the !. Their way of doing that is faster than anyone else. I like how I can pull up a number keypad or arrow keypad quickly as well in swype. Even if the others had a good way to do that stuff and it would just take me re-leaning behaivor a bit, I might switch, but the accuracy is still there with Swype. If swype never did away with the automatically adding of tapped words into the dictionary, I would have switched, but once they stopped that, I'm very happy with swype.

I'm just curious when Swype will be finalized, and when it is how much will it be. After all, a company rarely dumps 100 million into a product that they want to dish out to the world at no cost...

I just hope Nuance doesn't butcher anything. :(

I tried the Go Keyboard but I can't get the swipe to work. I enabled the Sliding Mode under Advanced Setting but still no swipe. Please help.

Edit: OK I got it to swipe. The swipe is useless in Go Keyboard.

This is the second time the developer has made apps such as Swype, available for free.
He did it for people with handicaps. There is altruism left in the world.:D

The new Go keyboard update seems to have broken the swipe feature for me. @_@

Went back to Swype. The only caveat I really have about swype is the small keys when I teach it new words @_@.

+1 for ultra keyboard and touchpal. I like them both, also use swiftkeyX and Go from time to time. (I will never get rid of swiftkeyX completely-I paid $3.99 for it the DAY BEFORE it was free on amazon, and darnit I'm going to use it :D)
