Other than screen, difference between Moto X and Nexus?

Hi guys,

My wife played with a Nexus 6 the other day and is in love with it but can't do the size of the phone. I was thinking of surprising her with a Moto X but I was wondering: other than screen size what is the major difference between the two devices? Especially now that the VZW Moto has Lollipop?

I appreciate any insight. Thanks, guys.

I went for the moto x over the N6 purely because of size and your wife would not be disappointed with the moto x.They are basically the same phone at the end of the day.

Different Processor (Moto X SD 801 2.5 GHz vs Nexus 6 SD 805 2.7 GHz) - not a HUGE difference
Different Ram (Moto X 2GB vs. N6 3GB)
Differnet GPU (Moto X Adreno 330 vs. N6 Adreno 420)
Battery Size (Moto X 2300 vs. N6 3220)
Wireless charging (Moto x NO vs. N6 YES)
Early reports say the N6 Camera is better
Dual front facing stereo speakers on the N6 only one speaker on the Moto X

There are a few other subtle differences but those are the biggies in MY eyes.

Very cool, thank you. I think for her those differences are negligible. She's not tech inclined, just really liked Lollipop.

I think the X will be the way to go.

It's not ALL tech, yes that's most of it but for me .... the only reason I have not already gotten the new X is the battery. That said, with the $140 off the Pure addition on cyber Monday, I may have NO CHOICE but to get the Moto X and save myself a lot of money.

The Moto X also has better Moto software - the touchless controls and ambient display (or whatever they call it now) is simply sublime on Moto X and the N6 does not offer near the options or abilities.

It is really a push, they are for all intents and purposes equally excellent handsets, it's all about what you want. I wish they made the Droid Turbo for all carriers and made it as attractive as the Moto X ....why oh why didn't they do the Moto X Play? No fair that Mexico and Brazil get the Moto Maxx and we have nothing in the states like it except a VZW exclusive.

I provided a link to the technical comparison of the two in an earlier post.

My recommendation on choosing is always the same. Go to your carrier's store and handle them both. When you pick up a candidate you will know in 10 seconds if it is right for you. (What is right fir me is not necessarily what is right for you.) If you don't know after 10 seconds that it is right for you ... don't buy it.

I saw that, thanks. My wife hasn't handled the Moto but she's not as picky as I am other than the screen on the 6 being too large. Of course even if she wanted a 6 it probably wouldn't happen because Google has had about 3 in stock since launch. At least it's felt that way. New stock every Wednesday my butt. :(

Moto X 2014: I miss a barometric pressure sensor, which I had on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and wireless charging, both very useful features for me.

Well 3 days in with the N6 the battery is like another world compared to my original Moto X. It's been off charger since 3AM CT and at 3PM CT I have 75% left. So a full 12 hours - I have texted, I have emailed, I have browsed the net, twitter, etc. Seriously it's crazy the difference there is right there.
