Help Outlook app not showing toast notifications

Hi,

Recently moved from Windows Mobile to Android (Pixel XL).

I have my primary e-mail account with Outlook.com, so I have installed the Outlook app. Notifications for new e-mail semi-work, as I can see an alert in the notification drawer if I pull down from the top of the screen, and I can hear an alert noise and feel a vibration, but there is no toast notification popup like I get from all my other apps.

I have checked and there doesn't seem to be anywhere in app, or system settings to control this specifically, only notifications generally being on or off.

Does anyone know if:
A. Outlook does actually produce toast notifications
B. How to enable them if it does

I don't believe Microsoft Incorporated that option in the Android Outlook app.
There are many other email apps that offer the option, but none that I've tried.
Aqua mail, Blue mail, Mail Droid to name a few

Interestingly, it doesn't look like Gmail is doing it either. Is there somewhere central for mail notifications?
I can't see anything specific within the gmail app to control this either, and everything seems to be enabled.
