Help Outlook Calendar syncing-Backflip

jvanp75

Lurker
I use Outlook Calendar for all of my appointments and reminders. I can't seem to find a calendar for my Backflip that will sync with Outlook. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find this if it's actually possible?

Appreciate any and all help I can get.

I believe that newer versions of the Android OS support this feature natively, so once we get the 2.1 update that should come along for the ride. In the meantime, I believe I have heard of people avoiding the direct sync problem by setting up a program on their computer that would sync their Outlook calendar with their Google calendar, which would then get synced to their phone in the normal way. You can go here: Getting started with Google Calendar Sync - Google Calendar Help to use Google's own calendar sync app. One drawback is that it only works with the default Google calendar, and cannot be set up to use a different calendar to separate your events if you already use your Google calendar for other things. If you do not use your Google calendar already then this won't be an issue, or if you don't mind them all getting thrown into the same place. I'm pretty sure I've seen other apps that do the same thing but offer more customization, but I can't think of them offhand.

Thank you for the great information...as luck would have it I'm running Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 and neither are supported by Google yet. Hopefully they will soon and if not maybe you've helped someone else too. Thanks again.

No problem at all. I just remembered the name of the other program that does the same type of thing that I have used before, and it is named OggSync. Here is their site: OggSync - Sync Google Calendar and Contacts with Outlook and Windows Mobile Device Sync (including Microsoft Office) OggSync Overview . I just checked, and it looks like they have a Beta version that supports Outlook 2010. I know they have a paid version of their program for $30, but it looks like there is a free download as well. Not sure what the difference is between the two, but worth a shot.

I was able to set up my outlook account as a CorporateSync account. That lets me get emails and links my calendar
