Help Outlook.Com email contact issue

Hi all. I'm seeing a very odd issue that I can't get to the bottom of. When I use the Outlook.com app to send an email to myself it shows as having come from another person but with my email address, so for e.g. it should show as Joe Bloggs: Joe.Bloggs@hotmail.com but it actually shows as Karamba: Joe.Bloggs@hotmail.com. I have received junk mail from Karamba before but they aren't in my contacts, I've checked on my Hotmail account and they aren't listed as a contact there either.

I have reinstalled the Outlook.com app, deleted all data and then as a last resort (my phone was getting ready) I factory reset the phone wiping everything including the SD card but it still does it.

I'm running Cyanogenmod 12.1 on a Galaxy S5.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks.

what happens if you send the email from your computer? if it's the same result (which is what I'd expect) then it's likely a setting there. iirc, that's one of several options, as is a reply-to alternate address (may not be related, but might be). Good luck!

As to how it got set to Karamba, if that is indeed the case, I'd suspect malware of some sort :(

No if I send it from my PC using Livemail or from the Hotmail website it's fine, it only does it from my phone. I can't see how it could be malware as I completely wiped the device and didn't restore any apps from backup and all apps are from the Playstore and of reasonable rep, also Avast has been on the whole time.

Very odd.

I poked around a little on my old phone (S3) and didn't see anything, really, other than where the user would enter a name during account setup. On my S5, I use Nine -- have you tried a different email client/app to see if it does that too (wrong from name)? While a complete wipe should have addressed removing your outlook.com account details, is it possible that CM restored that account with the wrong from name? Or any other automated restore procedure, like Google getting it's fingers into the pie…?

as for the malware, I'd meant on the PC, but it sounds like that's not the problem…
