Outlook sync (non exchange -yahoo)....will this work??

Carmen

Newbie
I am new to the andriod thing and just recently obtained the Moto Droid. I am desperately trying to figure out a way to sync my outlook (non exchange - yahoo) account with it.

I have searched the threads an unable to find any answers thus far. I have already looked into Compainion, gschink (sp) which continuely lost #'s, contact names and company names (thank god I had other back-ups), and MyLink. I understand that if you have an Google account this works some what in a way and I have also used a few online exchanges but they all just don't "SYNC" all information. I am coming from a BB and I understand that the Droid is not a BB but I really like so many of the other features that if I could just get this machine to sync in a business manner I would keep it!!! I am coming close to my 30 days and have to either get this to sync or put it in the box and return.

I came across this site www.hyperoffice.com and because I am not so familiar with the android os I'm not sure if this is a solution or not. I am asking the vets here if this is something that could be mine and so many others answer to the full features of syncing???

I thank you in advance for insight you can provide.

This won't help with Notes and Tasks but it works for contacts and calendar.

I use the Google Sync for Calendar items. Just login in to your gmail and go to Calendar. Then click on Sync at the top right of your screen and follow the directions.

For contacts I was going to use Companionlink and on the last day of my trial I found www.soocial.com. Saved me $40 bucks but I did have to tweak my contacts some but once I got them right it works nicely. WARNING! Backup your contacts BEFORE your start syncing to soocial...that way you can start from scratch if you need to without any data loss. I have almost 300 contacts and I took this as an opportunity to clean up my addressbook.

I have notes that I wouldn't mind transferring but I'm not real concerned about them. They're still on my PC...

Ugh - yet another online company competing to get control of the information in your contact list. If you are going to be ok with putting that information into the 'cloud' you may as well just sync it with gmail and be done with it.

I continue to wait for a product which will allow me to sync my personal outlook (not exchange) to the Droid without a third party. <sigh>

Thank you for the suggestions they are much appreciated! I am looking to do a full sync with my Outlook 2007 with my Droid without an exchange or google account. I don't want to have all my information sync in various ways through various sites or 3rd parties. I'm not concerned about the price if it would be a ALL-IN-ONE solution for a complete sync through Outlook. If it was one app or one program I would buy it but I just don't want to have to have 3-5 different areas to look at while syncing.

I am close to my 30 days and I think my end answer will have to be for me to return to my BB and maybe just wait for the Tour2 to come out. Thank you again for your help but I just NEED my Outlook in a one sync. Oh well.....it was fun but it's back to work for me with my BB in hand I guess.
