Root Overclocking Dangers question

Obviously Overclocking should be done with care and at your own risk, as it can potentially damage or even ruin your device if not done properly.

I recently lost a Memory Card (due to it being corrupt) and had to purchase a new one, and it got me thinking. Can overclocking your phone damage your Memory Card? I've never heard of this happening before but I thought I would check to see if anyone has either had this happen, heard of it happening, or now that they think about it, realize it may have in fact been the reason their Memory Card going kaput. Thanks!

i honestly wouldnt think the overclocking would do that to an sdcard

sdcards do not last forever, once so much data just gets passed back and forth and its never formated, it can begin to break down

Yeah I didn't think so either. I've had it for a year, so I figured it was just time. Funny thing is, it worked one morning, and by that afternoon, gone.

that will happen, my moms hard drive for her laptop was working fine, then sometime either that day, or the next day, she gets a hard drive error, back up all user data, however she couldnt boot to vista to get it, so i gave her one of my spare harddrives and loaded windows 7 64bit onto it

Sd cards die a LOT w/o overclocking.

If you use sensible settings (like not messing with anything higher than low voltage) and don't leave it in performance mode, OC is safe.

FWIW, performance mode means the slowest speed is the same as the fastest speed, so if you're OC'd to 300/1200 and in perf mode, your min speed becomes 1200 and if you leave it that way, your phone will get very hot and the battery will not last long. The DX will slow down when it gets hot, (not all devices do) but still why risk problems.

The main risk to OC'ing is stability and possible file/data corruption from crashing.

That's good info. I don't mess with the setting manually, I use Quick Clock to test my phone to see what it's capable of, then I adjust it according to those settings. Should i keep the Governor on OnDemand?
