Overheating question.

Last night I fell asleep with my phone in my bed. And somehow my blankets wrapped right around it. Once I found it, it was very warm (obviously). With it being that warm all night with it trapped in the blankets, could that of done any harm? Melted any electronics? I have been using my phone and it seems to be fine, maybe a bit slower. If it got to warm would the phone shut down so prevent ant problems? I have the HTC One X.

If it was hot or very hot then I'd be worried, but if the warmth was bearable and you could hold it just fine without irritation then it should be fine. Heat is bad for devices and if a device gets too hot then it can cause harm to the devices insides. I think I have heard that if a devices gets so hot it will shut itself off to prevent any damage to itself.

To what you've written and I've read... your phone seems to be just fine. :)

I see that Mp has given you some good advice.

Yeah the phone definitely did not irratate to touch. Just warm. But I felt the warmness through my hard phone case. Could that mean the phone was very hot. It seems to be working fine though, if anything would of happened it would of been done by now is suppose. Hopefully I didn't kill my battery life, time will tell.

Well I'm replying with my phone, I can can feel it warming up now. Is that normal since I'm on internet? Or since because I overheated it once it will overhear more often now?

The warmth you feeling is the device radio...this is normal...it will feel warm once the device is being used. In fact, most times my device gets really hot while I'm listening to Pandora and surfing the web at the same time. I often just take the battery out for a minute or two. No biggie. Don't worry about it - everything's okay. :)

C'mon.... smartphones are not THAT delicate..... They get hot if your CPU is abused and this doesn't damage them so how can a blanket do any damage....

I'd acrltually expect the One X to feel warmer than the general run of quad core phones simply because its using a polycarbonate case, which may tend to be more conductive to heat.

The temperature sensibly part of the phone is its battery.
The Li-Ion battery's temperature operating range is:
for discharging -20C (-4F) to +60C (+140F).
for charging 0C (+32F) to +45C (+113F).

For to measure your battery's temperatur you might install a battery app like Battery Monitor Widget.
Shows you the battery's temperature in a graph by time :)

Yeah my phone temperature at discharge is 29C. And I have an app that now tells me battery condition and it says "good." Hoping thats the best option and there isnt an excellent option haha. Its the anti virus app.

I was thinking more of a renewed "blankets test" ;) ;)
... with a temperature graph by time you could see what temperature the phone's battery would archive over night-time.
