Help overlapping apps

I didn't figure this could happen, but it has, twice. ICS and I've done a factory reset:
I have two app icons that are overlapping. One is mostly covering another. Course if you move one, the other goes with it. I can't see enough of the app underneath to know what it is...thinking I could remove both of them and re-assign them to one of the home screens again.
Suggestions?
Monica (who is slowly but surely taming this beast) :D

I believe when you drag and drop an app shortcut on another it creates a folder. Touch it once, don't hold. Then it will show both of them that are there. Move one by touching and holding, then dragging it away and the other will be free! :)

You are toooo smart! Thanks so much!
