P6P and S21 Ultra????

Hey guys have not been in these forums a long time, been Apple mostly a lot of years.

My girls iPhone 13 Pro Max was crushed and she decided she wanted to try the P6P. We ordered a White unlocked 256 and for some reason the order was cancelled. We reordered a black P6P unlocked 256 and it was supposed to come before Thanksgiving and every day since, the delivery date got further and further away.

She needed a phone and no idea if/when the P6P would even come, so I went out and some said the S21 Ultra was the top Android, so I bought a S21 Ultra unlocked 256 as there were plenty of them. I also bought her the Galaxy Watch 4 cellular.

She only had the S21 Ultra a few days and ""NOW"" the P6P looks like it is going to ship. We don't know what to do or which one to keep. The P6P is a year newer so that is good, the clean Android was something we were looking to try as Samsung has ssssssoooooooooooo many features and settings I could not even find some things without searching.

So iPhone user wanting to try Android and will have S21 Ultra and P6P in a week or so and only need to keep one of them.

I don't like Samsung.
If you are wanting a simple Android, I would not go for Samsung.

The OS is often the opposite of every other device, the OS is bloated beyond belief with mostly usless and trivial crap, and I find the UI to be convoluted and infuriating.

If you want the vanilla flavour of Android, as Google intended it, go with the Pixel. On the other hand if want the chocolate flavour of Android, go with the Samsung.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra myself, and I'm very happy with it. Google Pixel phones are not easily available to me.

been a samsung guy since the note 4 came out. i currently have the z fold 3. so i always lean toward the samsung flagship phones.

tbh i don't think that you can go wrong with either phone.....the specs are really similar:

this is a good article comparing the two:
https://www.techradar.com/news/google-pixel-6-pro-vs-samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra

one advantage the pixel will have over samsung is software updates and security patches. since pixel is google's flagship, these phones will usually get the major updates first before anybody else.

since you have the s21 ultra already......how does she like the phone? is there anything she dislikes? or loves?

I was using a Pixel until a week ago and now have an s21. And for a few days the fact that the menus are all reorganised is infuriating, but then if you are switching the other way that will probably feel the same.

There is a lot of trivial crap, but then Google prompting me to install or start using their apps reminds me how much of that Google install too. I've basically disabled or uninstalled most of the Samsung apps, as I always do with Google's, and once I have my own setup back it works in much the same way. I like the edge panel as a quick way of getting at my password manager and the flashlight - that's probably the biggest pro I've found so far (though the pro mode in the camera is the antithesis of Google's philosophy, and in a good way).

Bottom line: I've used both, didn't find switching a big deal. But then I have never found changing user interfaces a big problem (I used to switch ROMs regularly, and mix and match both computer and mobile operating systems).

Thanks all. It looks like the P6P is coming today. The S21 Ultra has been nice, but it is a little complicated as all the settings and features compared to the iPhone. We decided as it is coming anyways :) we are going to set the P6P up and try it and see. Both can still be returned, I already checked about the S21.

Pixel 6 Pro is better than the S21 Ultra as the P6P has an LTPO display which is new and great compared to Dynamic display if S21 Ultra which is old. The P6P and S21 Ultra specs are almost 98% the same but S21 has Snapdragon 888 which is a little higher than the new Google tensor chip but with new updates, P6P will be better! Also, P6P has the new unique design that is attractive than the S21 Ultra.
