Package installer keeps stopping

I cannot install any apk at all. I always get "package installer has stopped". Play works, but no others.

I should add. Nexus 7, 2012 version. Android 4.4.4 rooted. It's been doing this since before I upgraded to 4.4.4. To further explain no apks downloaded will install and I can't install from the Amazon app store. The play store works fine still.

Hi Gainesy88,

That's an interesting problem. Most of the other instances of "package installer has stopped" that I can find relate to either a custom ROM or low free space. Can you verify that you have sufficient free space on your device?

I'm afraid the next step will likely be a Factory Reset. You should make sure to back up any data that you need (using Titanium Backup, Helium, or similar), and then head to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset. Note that this will erase all the data on your device.

Hopefully a factory reset will get you back to a usable state. If not, the next step would be to flash the factory image. There's a nice tutorial on that here at Android Forums: http://androidforums.com/android-sy...e-how-flash-nexus-factory-image-manually.html

Good luck!
