Packet Data H & G

Is there a way when using packet data to always have the H showing at the top instead of the G ?

I ask because the H is much faster.

I've tried using both carriers that can be used on my phone but it seems just by chance that the H will appear which is much superior.

Normally your phone will use the fastest connection it can get. If it can't then it will drop down to 3g, or even 2g....

Yeah, "G" is GPRS, which means 2G. But if it's dropped to that it means you don't have 3G cover (HSDPA is the high-end of 3G), so if you set it to WCDMA only (no 2G) you'd lose connection altogether at those times rather than remaining on 3G.

Ah ok, I suppose I'd be better setting it to WCDMA only then as I couldn't connect even to the Google homepage on 2G.

You won't be better because when you can't get 3G you'll get nothing at all if you do that.

WCDMA preferred would be the best, but that's the default anyway.

That's what I meant though, 2g wasn't worthwhile.
