Help Page keeps showing

Lurker
Hi,

When closing all the applications (Not brutally, but using the square sign on the bottom right corner and swiping them aside) and pressing the square again instead of having "no recent applications running" message I get a web page with a historical search I've had once.

I cannot get rid of that page and every time I open all the running applications it's there. No Cache memory deletion or reboots helped.

Anybody experienced such a behaviour here? Any solutions or suggestions?

Thanks,
Guy.

If you see a web page, which browser are you using? If it's chrome, got to menu>settings>apps and find chrome and delete user data and cache. If it's a different browser, try removing it temporarily to see if it removed the problem.

Thanks, Lunatic59.
I did so for all the apps and also for the Chrome browser which I use. Unfortunately the little bastard keeps showing up. :(

Do you have some kind of app installed that optimizes searches? It seems that app is sticking itself back in the cache every time you clear it.

The only other thing I can thing of is some sort of push advertising or malware. You might want to consider a factory reset to wipe everything and start from scratch.

If on Lollipop, do you have Chrome set to show tabs in recent apps? Even with the data clearing, I'm wondering if something has fallen through the cracks because of that.

I thought to go back to factory reset as Lunatic59 suggested - I guess I have no choice if I want this problem to go away.
Oh, well...

You know, sometimes the troubleshooting is more work then just starting from scratch. I've got pretty efficient about restoring all my data and settings, not to mention that it tends to clean out the stuff you tried but decided not to use.
