Help Paid app not working

Hope this makes sense.

I Paid for an app from the play store on the one sv (boost mobile), downloaded it but I never got an "install" button to press like the others I have installed. If I go to the "settings" then "apps" it shows the app installed but in the apps screens where you can access the app, it is not there and I can't find it other than in the installed apps under the settings, I can click on it there and I get an options to "force stop" "disable" or "uninstall". How do I get the app to show on the app screen(s) so I can access it?

Hi and welcome to the forum:)

What is the name of the app you are having this issue with? Without having a little more info, there aren't too many recommendations i can give:o

Thank you Lord...that sounded weird :)

The app is a wallpaper app..."Northern Lights" now I don't know all the specific terms for the androids and please correct me so I can learn the correct terms. I downloaded and am using "Nova Prime" as the launcher and there is 5 main screen pages but only 3 app screen pages and they were full before the download of Northern Lights, is this why it's not showing up there? I kinda thought Nova (being the most recommended I saw) would create another "app" page when I filled up the third but maybe not...is 3 app pages all I can put on the phone?

Ah! This is a simple one :)

That app is a live wallpaper, you don't open it to use it.

I'm going to install nova so i can give you a step by step to apply it correctly.

Hold tight ;)

Ok. Here's what you need to do.

-While on the home screen, press and hold an empty space on the screen

-select wallpapers

-select live wallpapers

-select Northern Lights

-you may need to select apply (or the equivalent)
(since i haven't paid for that wallpaper app i can't be sure)

Please let me know if that does the trick :)

Edit -
Thank you Lord...that sounded weird :)

you'll get used to it:D:D:D

i kid, i kid

Also, if you press and hold one of the apps already on one of your home screens, you can drag it and drop it wherever you'd like

(including the other two empty screens)

You can do the same to apps in the "app drawer" to place them on your home screen

bummer...the one I downloaded is "Northern Lights (Aurora) Lucent Visions and it does not say live as I thought the "live" wallpapers use more battery and if you look at the app it has several pics of different scenes and it looks like a standard wallpaper with just pics, so why does it look that way?

Is this the one?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lucentvisions.wallpapers.NorthernLights

If so...

It's right in the description
:o:D:o

While it's true that logically a live wallpaper uses more battery, how much extra it uses had been a topic of debate.

What it really boils down to is what you want out of your phone.

you can have it perform faster/look cooler/do more (and use more battery)

Or you can have it perform slower/look more minimalistic/do less (and consume less battery)

The key is finding the balance that works for you :);)

I know several people who LOVE live wallpapers... And i know others who won't touch them with a 10 foot pole :D:D

I actually think my father uses this same live wallpaper. The different background are different templates to use with the live wallpaper... The play store uses static images, so there's no way to show the "live" feature without video ( which the developer neglected to include :D )

Yes it is that one...

Yes I did not read the entire description...my bad.

Is there any way to turn off the "live" effect and just make it a wallpaper-background pic?

BTW why do you have so many devices? Or are they the different phones you have had? Just curious because I am switching from the Kyocera Hydro, barley got one days use and many times it would die before the day, not a bad phone for a c-note but this HTC didn't cost that much more and the battery lasts more than a day and the phone rocks in comparison :) :) Thanks for the help.

No worries... Happens to the best of us :p

With that app, unfortunately the answer is no. You can't "kill" it. (sorry... live/"dead" wallpaper joke)

However, the alternative is to just download an image from the internet and use it as your wallpaper. (it's FREE too)

Check this link:
https://www.google.com/search?q=aur...EM9OMyASe1oFw&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=320&bih=464

I just did a Google image search for aurora borealis :)

And as far as the devices listed in my profile, i have owned them all. I just don't currently use them all.

My daily phone is the HTC one sv, my gf uses the prevail 2 (used to use the hydro), my brother owns the rush (and both my girlfriend and i have owned/used one), i have 3 (first gen) nexus 7s (one i use, one the gf uses and one with a broken screen) and i started here with the original prevail.

I include them because they are devices I'm intimate with and they are the ones I can provide the most help with. :) (And i want members to know my advice comes from personal experience)

I'm actually familiar with a TON of other devices, but since i don't own them, i don't follow their sections as closely.

There are some nice pics and sweet we can use one, I guess just download it to my computer, transfer it over to the ONE and pic it from the gallery, does that sound right? And do I have to use the HTC transfer program or just open the ONE on the computer under devices and place the file in the correct folder?

You can actually download it right to the phone :)

Just find the picture you like on Google (or any other site) using the phone's browser and then press and hold the picture and select "save image". It should then be downloaded to your phone.

Once it's downloaded you just find it in the gallery, select it & set it as your wallpaper

However, if your way seems simpler... Feel free to do it that way too :)

Nice...

Is there a wallpaper app that will let you select the pics you like and automatically change them daily or at what ever time interval you choose? That would be cool :)

An awesome app for downloading wallpapers/ringtones/notifications/etc is zedge
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.zedge.android

It has a little bit of everything... Though it's sometimes nsfw (not safe for work) so use caution ;)

It's not automatic (I'm not aware of one that does it for you) but it makes it easier to apply the ones you like

It appears auto-changing the wallpaper is an option, but it acts like a "live wallpaper" to accomplish this task

So on Nova prime the 5 screens I see when the phone is booted are the "home screens"? so when I press the middle button on the Nova home screen it brings up 3 pages where I see all the apps, is the app drawer? If correct, apps can be moved out of the "app drawer" and placed on the home screens? If correct, why is there an "app drawer"?

You are correct. The reason for the app drawer is to allow you to have a neat place to access all of you apps without having them clutter your beautiful wallpaper :D

Several people (including myself) feel that this:

Is more visually appealing than this:

:)

It doesn't actually move the app out of the app drawer... You just put a copy (a shortcut if you will) on the home screen

And the row of icons on the bottom of the screen is called the dock (or dock bar)
You can actually press and hold ("long press") those icons and remove them or replace them with another app

I got it and that's what I thought about the apps, now what happens when your app drawer is full? All 3 pages of mine is full (and I am just getting started :) )Where do the next installed apps go or show up?

It will make a new page :)

It only shows as many pages as you have apps to fit on

( try installing a few more and you'll see for yourself :D:p:D )

Lord V

I was going to download the zedge, why did you write that it's "sometimes" not safe for work? Is this nsfw a classification that several or many apps fall into?

No.
I just meant that some of the ringtones/notifications/alarms contain profanity/sexual content... so clicking a random one, with the speaker volume all the way up, while at work, may be ill advised :D
