Pandora and Google Nav

I am looking at getting the HTC Incredible 4G which is just a version of the One series phone. There is some buzz on that forum about issues with mulitasking on the One X & S forums. Can somebody confirm this. Can you say run Pandora and Google Nav at the same time or are there multitasking issues with the HTC One series phones? Is there a good thread already started on this?

Here is what I ran into last week as a matter of fact.... I was using Amazon MP3 player and navigation. It seems that if Navigation holds onto the audio for too long IE had multiple directions to spit out or back to back directions then it would kill MP3 player but if it was just one or two directions verbally then it worked fine.

Nav was running in the front the entire time while MP3 player was pumping out the tunes. This was a 3 hour trip and it killed the MP3 player probably a total of 4 times and only when Nav needed to announce something for a long period of time. The weird part was I didn't have one problem on the way back... But I did take more of a freeway route.

So the rumors that the new One series HTC phones having issues with multitasking are not true? Nobody else is having issues with multitasking?

My understanding of the issue is that it less about running multiple tasks at the same time, it is about how aggressively it closes apps that haven’t been accessed for a while.
Not had any issues with having music playing while on the internet, ebook reading or texting/ calling. There is more than enough grunt under the hood!

However, if you use the recent apps button and scroll back to select an app that hasn’t been open for a while, the you will find it has been closed and it will reopen. Can’t give you an exact length of time before it closes though. It works fine flicking between a few open apps, say between a game, email and browser, but once an app has been dormant for a period then it will be closed. This obviously doesn’t affect apps running all the time in the background like gmail – these will carry on with whatever sync period you have set.

Not really a big issue for me, even if it has been closed they will tend to open pretty quickly. If you are the sort to flash custom roms, then I think some of the roms over on XDA have been modified to keep apps open/ in the memory for longer.

Happy to be corrected if this is on the wrong track!

ah, ya the more reading I do the more that sounds like what the issue is. I don't think that will be a problem for me. I run Pandora and Nav, but as far as opening an app and then coming back to it to expect to be in the same spot?? I can't say I do that very often if at all. Maybe the internet once and a while.
