pandora replacement

I'm soooo tired of Pandora's ads & skipping, now since the Gingerbread update it doesn't go to the next song if the screen is locked. So I'm giving up on Pandora but I need something to replace it.
I've recently started using Google Music but I'm limited to my own songs & I'm looking for more variety.
Similar apps listed in the Market are Jango & Sky.FM. I'm not looking for an FM Radio app....I can listen to that on the car radio w/o using up my battery. :)
I'm looking for a variety of online music, tailored to my own personal likes.
Any suggestions??

I use, and really enjoy, Slacker radio. However there are ads played on the free version. I don't find he ads frequent or intrusive though. Playback is smooth on my Thunderbolt. I cancelled Sirius radio after six years now that I can use my cars AUX plug to play Slacker through my car speakers. It sounds really good!

They also have two pay plans that add mor features and remove ads.

F Siruis (used to like howie but its old news), XM tho all the way, cant live w/o my Opie & Anthony, do people really listen to actual radio still? (heheh). I cant leave the Virus station mostly but also great for Music. It doesnt cost that much money, less than $20 a month for me, but less than $10 i believe to just have online access(which enables you to listen via their app). Ive heard a few peeps say its a prob, but never seen one with my phone(4g lte:-), even get reception outback in my work, where my actual unit was placed with 25' long antenea and got nothing. Works flawlessly for the most part, ive heard it skip or have to reboot it maybe 3 times. The actual XM app is very user friendly and doesnt look to shaby either...

I've tried Last.FM, Slacker, Pandora, Grooveshark, and TuneIn. I use most of them currently except slacker and last.fm. I use a combination of Grooveshark and Pandora. I've found that the new genre stations are pretty solid (I'm ad free).

Last.FM was really nice but you're pretty limited with the free account and things got repetitive fast.

Slacker was great for a while as well, but they didn't have a good variety of music. I got bored of it after a month because it wasn't introducing many new songs to me. This was after I adjusted the music discover setting.

TuneIn is good for getting a digital feed of radio stations from all over the US. Pandora is good for quickmix and the genre stations. Grooveshark is great to use when you add songs that you like from these apps. Grooveshark also utilizes last.fm for music scrobbling.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your input!
I decided to try out Jango, as recommended in the Market. I was a little skeptical bec I didn't/don't know of anyone else using it. But I must say so far I LOVE it!! It is completely ad free, has a GREAT mix of music, you can personalize it just like Pandora. I would say it's very similar to Pandora but without the ads & the other problems. Pandora was also getting repetitive with their songs. I have a half our drive to work every day so I like to listen to something other than the chit chat & commercials on the radio. I'm not going to say Jango is perfect. It does freeze up from time to time. So far that's the biggest problem I've found with it. I'll take that over the ads & ongoing issues with Pandora any day! So in case anyone else was looking for an alternative to Pandora...I highly recommend Jango. It's 100% free & no ads.

Jango is terrific. Unlimited skips., no ads.

Go to a computer, log on to jango and not only can you tell Jango not to play certain songs but also for Jango never to play certain artists also.

So much more fleibilty with Jango.

You can also log on to your friends playlist too.

Blows away pandora.

Do any of those mentioned above (or that weren't mentioned at all) work outside of the US?

They all seem to be US only, including Jango. This is why i think streaming music from the cloud is a bit of a fail so far.

TuneIn Radio and Iheartradio work just fine though. Those are what I use, as the local radio stations tend to leave a bit to be desired.
