Help Pandora skipping every song

Does anybody know when on 3G Pandora would skip every single song 90 seconds into the song? It's every song and always 90 seconds..

You have limited bandwidth. Pandora runs out of buffer 90 seconds into the song, and when that happens it skips to the next song (because that is less annoying then having the song stop and start and stop over and over again).

OK, lets say that is the case... Why would it just have all of a sudden started. I have been listening to Pandora for over 1.5 years on this phone. If that is the case who do I call to address the issue? There shouldn't be anything running in the background on my phone that hasn't been any other time.

I'm having the same issue. jamala00, did you get the GB update?

Well I am rooted, but I am running the ROM of the OTA, so yes.... esentially I have the gingerbread update. I have tried 3 different ROMs all that use the 2.3.4 Gingerbread base and they all skip. So this is a Pandora related issue. I have e-mailed Pandora, but have not gotten any response from them.

I wonder if anybody else with another Android phone is having issues. I know people with an iPhone4 and they are not having any issues.

Yes...Google "pandora skipping seconds" and you'll find plenty of people having this issue. You can feel free to substitute slacker, Rhapsody or just about any other streaming music service and get similar results. Ditto for sticking in any number of other phones (including iPhones) in the search.

I have friends here at work that have iPhones and have no issues. I also just put a post on the Rezound forum last night and those who replied said they also have no issues. So is this a Pandora issue or a Verizon issue? Because I have spoke to Verizon and they say it isn't anything on their side and I can not get a response from Pandora. It also only started happening to me a couple weeks ago. I have always been able to stream over 3G with no issues... Ever since I had the Eris...

I too am having the same problem on my Droid Incredible II since the gingerbread update (v2.3.4). Verizon is also my carrier. I understand the 90 second buffer, however Slacker is working for me, so they are obviously implementing streaming logic that is unaffected by the OS update. It seems that the software engineers at Pandora would recognize that their design/implementation may need to be refactored due to the changed environment in this case, and I'm sure they are working toward a solution. An acknowledgment from them regarding this matter would be nice.

I recently upgraded to the Gingerbread OTA and updated the radio and the skipping started occuring. Every song, ~ every 95 seconds. I figured the gingerbread update was bad since it was the leaked update from Verizon, so I flashed back to 2.2 and voila, my problem was solved. Interesting to note though, I never went back to the original radio, so the radio doesn't seem to be the issue.

I got the most recent official update of GB on the phone now and the problem has returned.
Pandora works on WIFI and I have a DTR, so bandwidth shouldn't be an issue, and like others have been saying it was never an issue prior to the update.

I sent off another e-mail.. agree 110%...

Interesting, I never flashed all the way back to 2.2. I was using Jermaine's Stock+ V2.5 was having no issues. Then flashed his V2.6 and had issues. going back to V2.5 was still having issues... but version 2.5 and 2.6 are both GB 2.3.4.. I also tried Nil's Business Gingersense and had the skipping but his base is also GB 2.3.5.. I also tried flashing the ROM of the last OTA from the 16th... That also does not work.

I'm running unrooted and didn't have this problem before. Everyone with DIs that I know are having the problem. Slacker works just fine. I'm waiting for the next Pandora update before I get pissed.

I can't believe that this is a conspiracy to push people to 4G. It couldn't be...could it?

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about a conspiracy from the carrier. Besides, if that were the case, I would expect it to have an affect on more than just the Pandora experience. Again, Slacker works just fine and I haven't noticed any significant anomaly with other network-dependent applications. If Pandora conspired in this manner, it would be detrimental to their business. I doubt they would do that.

I just don't understand what would be so different about 2.3.4 on the Inc vs the Inc2 or Rezound.. etc.. that would cause the issue only on the Inc.
Hope Pandora addresses this soon. I may have to try Slacker.

I have already switched back to slacker. I used it exclusively before it was bloatware. I had a problem with it and then switched to pandora and have been using it for over a year fine tuning a station. Now i'm almost back to square one but switching back to slacker.

P.S. I said I couldn't believe that it could be a conspiracy. I just saw where someone threw that out there in another thread.

I am also having the problem where Pandora on my Android (HTC Incredible) will only play 90 seconds of a song when listening over 3G via Verizon.

I found a solution a few days ago (can't find the link again) that worked for me. When running the Pandora App, go to Preferences and change to "High" for the "Cell Network Audio Quality" and then reboot your phone.

This solved the problem for me. In fact, I tried changing back to the "Normal" setting and the problem came back. The only way to fix it was to switch back to "High" and reboot. Just switching to "High" quality without rebooting doesn't work.

I am going to try this right now. I'll let you know if it works. Funny thing is everybody else is saying make sure it is not set to High Quality...

On my 3rd song now on 3G and so far so good. I am confused as to why everybody would say be sure your not on High Quality, but now setting it to High Quality works... Anyway, I won't complain.. Thanks for posting this!!

This solution worked for me as well. Thanks Chief004!!! :)

The fix that worked for me is the setting change to high quality followed by a reboot of the phone. Before that I tried all of the fixes Pandora has on its site for Android problems without success. I did download Headset Blocker before the change and reboot fix, but the blocker did not fix the issue.

This fixed my problem as well, and without rebooting even. Using Droid Incredible in car, and bluetooth audio, also over Verizon 3G. Strange, but it works (almost as if the checkbox is functioning the OPPOSITE of what it says).

I just switched back to my HTC Incredible. Everything works except for Pandora.

I've tried flipping the quality setting. It consistently skips to the next song after roughly 60 seconds.

Pressing Menu is also messed up. The menu shows up all white. If I touch somewhere on the menu, then I can see the menu entries. Hard to even quit the app.

Whats wrong with Pandora? How can it be so messed up?

Have you tried reinstalling the app?

Interesting. I have a rooted Droid X but still running 2.1 (hey, it works!). Recently when I start Pandora I have the same issue as above. IN addition if it does play it is garbled sound. Phone speaker, headset, bluetooth wireless to the car stereo, all do it.
Very annoying. I was set up, worked great for the last year and now putz. I am on an original Verizon unlimited data plan and don't want to loose that but the only way to upgrade the phone it to loose it!

You could keep unlimited if you buy a used phone. Try uninstalling then reinstalling the pandora application first.
