Parting shots for S4 GPE users (I'm out)

As of this upcoming Monday I will no longer be an S4 GPE user. However, I figured I'd leave current and potential users with the following two nuggets of information.

1. The camera has vastly improved lately due to the 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 updates as well as updates to the camera app. The shutter is noticeably faster and as a result I'm taking photos with MUCH less blur, even in low light situations. It's not perfect, but it is far FAR better than the earlier days. It's a very competent shooter now :)

2. You've heard me whine about MicroSD support since KitKat. However, under the new rules, we should still have MicroSD read/write capability via SAF (Storage Access Framework). However, we don't have this because of an oversight via software. I've been assured by Google that this is now being addressed internally and will roll out in a future OTA. This doesn't restore the phone's MicroSD capabilities to that of pre-KitKat, but it allow read/write capabilities under the new rules as intended.

Unfortunately, it was the KitKat change that drove me away and to a phone with enough internal storage that a MicroSD wouldn't be necessary.

Can't you just Root your S4 GPE? Then you'll be able to write to the SD card. That's what I did.

Who wouldn't? But, we have to do with what we're dealt with. Once you root, you'll be good to go. :)

I've rooted before. I've even written and distributed my own ROMs. I don't care to do it anymore.

I already swapped out my phone with a device that I prefer. I'm already good to go :)
